Hole 8 of 9
Hole 8
Par 4The number-one stroke index hole: a long, demanding par four to a narrow green.
About this hole
The index one hole at Horam Park and a proper test from tee to green. Playing uphill with a blind tee shot, a sloping fairway and a long, narrow two-tier green, the eighth asks for accuracy, patience and the right club selection.
Pro tip
Use the marker post and favour the right side of the fairway, as the slope can pull a straight shot down towards the left. Take enough club for the approach too, as the uphill finish and pin position can make the green play longer than it looks.
Common mistake
Hitting the tee shot too straight and letting the slope take control. Once the ball feeds left, the trees can quickly come into play and make the second shot much harder.
